Pharmacokinetics and Indications: Winstrol (Stanozolol) is a popular testosterone derived anabolic steroid from the Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) family with a 17-AA alteration. Winstrol was first developed by Sterling-Winthrop Laboratories in the early 1960’s the active hormone in the compound Stanozolol was given the trade name “Winstrol” for which it continues to be known as to this day. It is popular with bodybuilders when cutting due to its high anabolic and low androgenic ratio meaning it enables bodybuilders to retain high levels of lean mass with very little water retention. It does not lead to any estrogen related side effects, so an anti-estrogen such as Arimadex is not necessary when running Winstrol.
In medicine Winstrol is FDA approved and is often used to treat anemia due to low red blood cells, and bloating caused by hereditary angioedema. The compound has also used for veterinary purposes to increase lean mass in animals and to improve blood counts and appetite.
